Ideas worth spreading..

On Saturday morning got a call from a friend..
"Hi!!Did you hear about the famous online bus ticket booking website in India?".
Then I came to know about this site called "www.redbus.in" .Check out this. What a simple idea and a wonderful implementation!!!!.Ofcourse it took them some time( a span of two years..which is more than worth it) to get the site going in a really good shape.Three friends, students from BITS pilani, started it.Now they get a profit of more than 13 lakhs p.m from this site.Initial work was a pain, talking to all the managers of the bus stations and private travels owners. But offcourse now we know, it was all worth it, looking at the tremendous success.
I believe that we an learn 'what to do' from the lives of successful people n by associating with them. There are also things which we can learn by associating with failures also: 'what not to do'.
Have you any other exciting things to share? Please feel free to post.

Hey Harini, below is advice from a very rich person on how to become rich.

If you wish to be rich, you must grow a carapace, a mental armour. Not so thick as to blind you to well-constructed criticism and advice, especially from those you trust. Nor so thick as to cut you off from friends and family. But thick enough to shrug off the inevitable sniggering and malicious mockery that will follow your inevitable failures. Not to mention the poorly hidden envy that will accompany your eventual success.

Consider carefully this shortlist:

If you are unwilling to fail, sometimes publicly, and even catastrophically, you stand little chance of ever getting rich.

If you care what the neighbours think, you will never get rich.

If you cannot bear the thought of causing worry to your family, spouse or lover while you plough a lonely, dangerous road rather than taking the safe option of a regular job, you will never get rich.

If you have artistic inclinations and fear that the search for wealth will coarsen such talents, you will never get rich. (Because your fear, in this instance, is well justified.)

If you are not prepared to work longer hours than almost anyone you know, despite the jibes of colleagues and friends, you are unlikely to get rich.

If you cannot convince yourself that you are “good enough” to be rich, you will never get rich.

If you cannot treat your quest to get rich as a game, you will never be rich.

If you cannot face up to your fear of failure, you will never be rich.

The truth is that getting rich means sacrifice. And it isn’t always you that’s doing the sacrificing. This is not a calling for the faint-hearted. There is no shame in turning away. After all, if everyone was prepared to make the necessary sacrifices, who would be left to work for my own companies? Quite apart from sacrifice, there is a last brutal truth to be confronted. After a lifetime of making money and observing better men and women than me fall by the wayside, I am convinced that fear of failing in the eyes of the world is the single biggest impediment to amassing wealth. Trust me on this.

If someone with average abilities can become rich, you may wonder why so few people have become rich?

Even people in the United States of America, where people earn and invest in the course of their working lifetimes, why the most people still end up dependent on social security, pensions and relatives when they retire?.

If a person earning $25,000/year and just save $2500/year, 10% of his income, and invest it carefully to earn a return of 10% compounded over the course of his working lifetime, from age 21-65 (44 years), it would grow to more than $1,700,000 through the power of compound interest!. If a poor boy like me without a single advantage in the world can become a millionaire, and a person earning $25,000/year saving 10% of his income can become a millionaire or even a multi-millionaire, then almost anyone can become a millionaire.

So a big question which I was ask for answers long time ago is “What is the cause of people don’t become rich?” Even In USA, with the opportunities they have, why is it that so few people retire rich? And I eventually found the answers. Here are what I consider to be the 5 reasons why people don’t get rich.

First, it never occurs to them that they too can become rich. Second, if it does occur to them, they never decide to become rich. Third, if they do decide to do something to improve their financial lives, they procrastinate, sometimes all their lives. Fourth, they cannot discipline themselves to delay gratification, to resist spending everything they earn a bit more besides. And the last, they operate with a short time perspective. They think and act day to day and month to month instead of planning ten and twenty years into the future.

P.S: The above piece of information is taken from somewhere else. My goal is to spread knowledge.
